About Us

AFRCN APPRL is a clothing outfit that is focused on 1) selling African-made apparel and 2) empowering African entrepreneurs to run sustainable businesses in their local community.

Who are you?

We are just three guys, three dudes, three friends, and we want to contribute to a new kind of input into this world. We want to contribute to how can we, why don’t we, let’s find a way to, and if we get stopped let’s find a way around, over, under, or through. There are already plenty of reasons not to do, so we’ll focus on the reasons to do.

So why Africa?

Africa is misunderstood.  In the States, we’re stuck in this media-induced stupor of a dying Africa.  AIDS. Guns. Diamonds. Corruption. Blah blah blah.  But we disagree.  Although those wretched things are true, to an extent, we know the brighter, truer side of Africa.  Ingenuity. Creativity. Altruism. Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Africa is powerful.  Africa is capable. Africa is primed to be a resourceful and healthy continent.  So in a our own way, we want to tap into that.  We want to empower Africans to run self-sustainable businesses that reach to the rounded corners of the planet.  So we found about Malawian cotton farmers who had plenty of cotton to sell.  We connected with a crew of socially conscious South Africans who create fashionable apparel.  We did the metaphorical math and decided to import Malawian grown, South African owned, fair-wage-sewn cotton t-shirts. Magic.

And why T-Shirts?

T-shirts are more than just easy going, affordable fashion.  They are modern soapboxes for expressing ourselves.  Our hopes. Our humor. Our tastes. Then it only seems appropriate that our social entrepreneurship hinges upon the honest and adventurous production of the T-shirt.

Our shirts travel 10,000 miles and pass through the hands of countless Africans (and Americans. And African Americans.). From the fields of Malawi to a factory in South Africa to Denver International Airport.  Why? To be worn by you.
